Singer-Songwriter Josh Hisle: Iraq War Veteran Turned Neil Young Protege
$22.00 - $25.00
$11.00 - $12.50*
Josh Hisle comes to Baltimore as part of a fundraising tour for the Veterans Initiative at Common Ground on the Hill. Hisle, a Marine Corps veteran with one of the first units to invade Iraq, used his music to help his fellow soldiers and as a personal escape during his tours of duty. A story about Hisle brought him to the attention of Neil Young and led to his involvement in the 2008 documentary Déjà Vu
featuring Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, which was followed by a performance at the Sundance Film Festival with Neil Young and Graham Nash and an opening act gig at Stephen Stills' concerts. Since his return to the U.S., Hisle has used his status as a touring musician to reach out to fellow veterans struggling with issues including alcoholism, depression and PTSD.

Jean Giraudoux's The Madwoman of Chaillot, written in World War II-era France, is a delightfully satirical, surreal fable about an eccentric countess who happens upon a plot to uproot the city of Paris to search for oil beneath its streets. She rallies several other oddballs and outcasts, as well as some of her fellow madwomen, in a bid to defeat the greedy developers, resulting in an all-too-relevant comic commentary on big business. The 1969 movie version starred Katharine Hepburn in the title role, and Angela Lansbury won a Tony for her part in the musical adaptation, Dear World. Learn More
