Soulful Symphony's Soulful Holidays: Carols, a Messiah & More
Baltimore's own Soulful Symphony celebrates the season with an orchestral-vocal concert at the Hippodrome featuring fun holiday favorites, traditional carols and even adaptations of The Messiah and Nutcracker. Founded in 2000 by award-winning pianist-composer-conductor Darin Atwater, this 85-member ensemble is dedicated to preserving African-American cultural expression through all kinds of music, from classical to jazz, and gospel to pop. Atwater served as the Baltimore Symphony's composer-in-residence from '04-'07, and continues to create acclaimed large-scale works including The Audacity of Hope, based on the book by President Obama.
