Shakespeare on Clark presents the shortest and most farcical of Shakespeare's comedies. Its flurry of puns, wordplay and slapstick comedy give The Comedy of Errors
a broad appeal that has led to stage, screen, opera and musical adaptations. The play takes twin masters, each named Antipholus, their twin servants, both coincidentally named Dromio, and puts them together in the same city for the first time, setting off a chain of mistaken identity mishaps, including wrongful beatings, arrests, a near seduction and false accusations of infidelity. The chaos careens hilariously out of control leading the characters to believe their former friends are thieves, madmen or possessed by demons before all is revealed in a satisfyingly happy ending.
