Angels in America, Part II: Tony-Winning Epic Ends
The AIDS epidemic is escalating, the ozone layer is weakening and God has abandoned all mankind. At least, that's what a heavenly being reports to the disease-stricken Prior in Angels in America, Part II: Perestroika, the conclusion to playwright Tony Kushner's Pulitzer- and Tony-winning masterpiece. Relationships shift and legendary characters like infamous attorney Roy Cohn and his adversary Ethel Rosenberg appear while wrestling with questions of morality, guilt, forgiveness and even hope. Playing in repertory with Part I, the powerful conclusion -- directed by artistic director Tony Taccone in his 20th anniversary season -- comes to the Roda Theatre at Berkeley Rep.
