This edgy musical tells the story of Lili, an orphan seeking a friend of her dead father at a carnival, who becomes infatuated by the show's magician. She soon realizes the possibility of love as her life becomes entwined with the lame and misanthropic puppeteer Paul. Based on the 1953 film Lili
was nominated for seven Tony Awards in 1962 including Best Musical, and ran for more than 700 performances on Broadway. The poignant and poetic musical includes such songs as "A Very Nice Man," "Magic, Magic" and the hauntingly beautiful "Love Makes the World go 'Round." Thirty students from the Berkeley Playhouse TeenStage will inhabit the European traveling circus for this production, a fun, family alternative to the Super Bowl.
