A truly legendary blues singer-songwriter-guitarist, John Mayall celebrates his 80th birthday with a new international tour and fittingly-titled album, A Special Life
. He's never really left the road, keeping up a busy worldwide performance schedule, and releasing more than 60 discs over the course of his historic career. It all started in the '60s, when Mayall formed the Bluesbreakers, the band that laid the blueprint for a generation of British blues and rock, and introduced Eric Clapton to the world. When Clapton and bassist Jack Bruce left to form Cream, Mayall continued on, and the Bluesbreakers launched the careers of many other rock legends, including Peter Green and John McVie of Fleetwood Mac, Mick Taylor of the Rolling Stones, and many more. Openers are local blues specialists Idle Hands and the Bulldawg Blues Band.
