A French Baroque Valentine: Rameau & Charpentier
$12.50 - $27.50*
$25 - $55
Celebrate l'amour with Boston Baroque's performance of Rameau's one-act opera La Guirlande and Charpentier's Te Deum. Soprano Amanda Forsythe and haute-contre Laurence Wiliford play the young lovers Zélide and Myrtil whose magic garlands only stay alive if they remain faithful to one another. But Myrtil's wandering eye causes trouble before true love is restored. Baritone Andrew Garland also appears in Jean-Philippe Rameau's pastoral, which premiered at the Paris Opera in 1751. Mezzo-soprano Katherine Growdon joins the cast for Marc-Antoine Charpentier's Te Deum, a fitting finale to this romantic French program. Now celebrating its 40th anniversary, the Boston Baroque is led by music director Martin Pearlman.
