What an exciting way for Pros’ Boston members to spend the evening! Just before the city explodes in the heat of summer and Fourth of July frolic, Professionals in the City has arranged an event just for their Bostonites. This is one of the group’s favorite "nightlife tours,” and after this fun-filled evening, it will also become one of yours!
Your hosts this evening are:
Hennessy’s…Hennessy’s dark furniture, cozy lighting, and stained-glass windows make it particularly inviting on a cold winter night. Antiques line the walls and bar rails, and cracked window panes give it a lived-in feel. During the day, political types trickle down from Government Center to chow down on sandwiches and clam chowder alongside the tourists.
The Bell in Hand…America’s oldest continuously operating tavern since 1795, the Bell in Hand is famous for an impressive clientele through the years (including actors, city leaders and Daniel Webster). In this century, the place is quite a bit less sophisticated, but just as appealing to its jovial regulars. Traditional bar fare ranges from salads to fried appetizers and burgers, fish and pizza. Tonight we will be enjoying some snacks and fun sized discount margaritas!
Paddy O’s…In aiming to provide a reasonably authentic Irish environment, the Somers Pub chain has filled Paddy’s with a handcrafted bar and Irish-made furniture. There’s a proper stage for local rock bands and boisterous Irish sessions, plus a DJ booth for when the bands aren’t on. Tonight we will have live music from a local band to keep us rockin’!
The Point… Once an old man’s bar around the corner from the Haymarket, this locale now serves as a gathering spot for stylish young professionals. The decor is bare-bones, but furnished with inviting little touches like a marble bar, comfy padded barstools and soft-lit wall sconces. For the hungry, a wide selection of bar fare (burgers, chicken wings) is available. Designer martinis and a varied beer selection highlight the drink menu. You are going to love the nachos!
