Cantata Singers Perform Pärt, Victoria & Harris
Experience Arvo Pärt's stunning Berliner Messe, Tomás Luis de Victoria's striking Officium defunctorum and William Harris' crystalline Faire is the Heaven at Boston's beloved Church of the Covenant. Contemporary Estonian composer Pärt sets the Latin Mass to hauntingly lush and beautiful music for chorus and organ, while Spanish Renaissance composer Victoria's a cappella Officium defunctorum, a Requiem mass, contrasts with themes of mourning and remembrance. English composer William Harris' elegant Faire is the Heaven rounds out the final concert of Cantata Singers' 54th season. Terry Decima, pianist and retired Professor at New England Conservatory, will give the pre-concert talk, and all are welcome at a free post-concert reception following the performance.
