The Cover of Life: Dramatic Portrait of Home Front During World War II
The Cover of Life flips back to a time when America was documented in the glossy pictorials of magazines like Life and Look. In this amusing and affecting play by R.T. Robinson, Henry Luce, legendary publisher of Life, dispatches reporter Kate Miller to write a cover story about a trio of wives pining for their far-off husbands while living together at their mother-in-law's house. However, Kate, fresh off a tour of war-ravaged Europe, has little interest in manufacturing a "puff piece." Not to mention, the wives -- Sybil, Tood and Weetsie -- are far from the delicate models of womanhood that Luce has imagined. Bob Sams directs this charming and unforgettable play for the Bowie Community Theatre.
