The North County Funnies is a one of its kind comedy variety show.  The show combines the sketch comedy aspect of a Saturday Night Live with a Daily Show type of newscast; all this surrounding the centerpiece of top-notch professional stand up comedy.  The comedians that have appeared on the show in its 3 year run is a veritable who’s who of hilarious funny people.  Including Last Comic Standing winners Dat Phan and Alonzo Bodden, HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm’s Barry Diamond, The Late Show w/ David Letterman’s Karen Rontowski and Comedy Central’s Jackie Kashien to list a very short few.  The show is presented in a very unique talk show styled format and hosted by the hilarious Kurt Swann.

Also appearing on each show is the sketch group called the Pearl St. Players.  The group that originally got its start over 10 years ago at the World Famous Comedy Store in La Jolla, Ca. Some of the original members of that group have gone onto become some of Hollywood’s brightest young stars- Mad TV’s Bobby Lee, The Tonight Show’s Shayma Tash and Emmy Award winning writer on Late Night with Conan O’Brien Mike Komen.  Now a new crop of funny people is hoping to continue that tradition.

This month’s show features Karen Rontowski.  America’s Comedy Sweetheart is BACK!!! Karen Rontowski is one of the best of the best. She was the very first comic we had on the NCF stage 3 years ago. Her credits are numerous but they include being the hand selected comedian to open for the Late, Legendary Ray Charles, Jimmy “JJ” Walker, and Emo Phillips . Her act is full of the funny. If you’ve not seen her before, you need to. If you have, I’m sure you’ve stopped reading this and are purchasing tickets right now. Yes, she’s that good! One of our absolute favorites!
