More Information

The North County Funnies is a one of its kind comedy variety show.  The show combines the sketch comedy aspect of a Saturday Night Live with a Daily Show type of newscast; all this surrounding the centerpiece of top-notch professional stand up comedy.  The comedians that have appeared on the show in its 3 year run is a veritable who’s who of hilarious funny people.  Including Last Comic Standing winners Dat Phan and Alonzo Bodden, HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm’s Barry Diamond, The Late Show w/ David Letterman’s Karen Rontowski and Comedy Central’s Jackie Kashien to list a very short few.  The show is presented in a very unique talk show styled format and hosted by the hilarious Kurt Swann.

Also appearing on each show is the sketch group called the Pearl St. Players.  The group that originally got its start over 10 years ago at the World Famous Comedy Store in La Jolla, Ca. Some of the original members of that group have gone onto become some of Hollywood’s brightest young stars- Mad TV’s Bobby Lee, The Tonight Show’s Shayma Tash and Emmy Award winning writer on Late Night with Conan O’Brien Mike Komen.  Now a new crop of funny people is hoping to continue that tradition.

This month’s show features Ralph Harris.  Ralph is perhaps most recognized from his numerous television appearances, including his starring role in the sitcom On Our Own, which aired on ABC, or on HBO’s Half-Hour Comedy Special, or most recently on Comedy Central Presents.

Ralph was discovered by members of the ABC Casting and Development Department when they attended a comedian’s showcase – the rest, as they say, is network history.

Ralph’s many television appearances have enabled him to highlight his talents, performing character comedy to a broader audience. In addition to acting, Ralph’s passion for performing live stand-up comedy remains close to his heart. In fact, he continues to perform in sold-out clubs across the country when not making television appearances.

Ralph has been featured on several sitcoms and variety shows. He notes that one that stands out is the critically-acclaimed Seinfeld, which he believes is responsible for getting his acting career rolling. His credits include Parenthood, Nick Freno, Living Single, The Strip, and In Living Color.

Ralph has had several appearances on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno and Late Night With Conan O’Brien.
