Things will never be the same again for the Flores family when they hire Lydia, a recent immigrant from Mexico, to help care for their 15-year-old daughter, Ceci, after she suffers permanent brain damage in a car accident. Lydia is a remarkable person who connects with Ceci and sets out to heal the family's strange distance from each other, subsequently revealing unexpected secrets. Set in El Paso in the 1970s, this drama explores Texas-Mexican border relations and explores the meaning of home and belonging. The National Pastime Theater presents the Midwest premiere of Lydia, which was commissioned by the Denver Center Theatre where it premiered in 2008 and was a finalist for the 2009 Steinberg/ATCA Award.
