If you're taking kids, make sure you take something to snack on during intermission. They don't really have anything for kids. I took crackers and it worked out well.

Very entertaining for children and adults! Swings you from laughter to almost-tears. I found the first half of the performance to be stronger than the second, but overall, a solid piece.

As advertised, no Tchaikovsky and no ballet, but that doesn't mean no music and no dance. At the end they ask us to tell our friends if we liked the show, and I have been doing just that. Go!

A charming holiday show for all ages. It's become a Chicago holiday tradition, deservedly so.

Quotes & Highlights

“Four out of four stars … Over the years I’ve watched families leave this show moving closer together. … It’s moving, family-friendly, richly imaginative and distinctive.” —Chicago Tribune

“Instead of bratty kids and sugarplum fairies, Jake Minton and Phillip Klapperich’s tightly spun book introduces a family wracked by tragic loss. But magic still abounds, and in quantities that will bring a tear to the eye of even the stingiest Grinch. … it’s a nearly flawless, truly essential all-ages holiday show.” —Chicago Reader

Running time is two hours, including one 15-minute intermission.

This production is recommended for ages 5 and older. Please see the show’s website for a parental guide with information about the show’s themes and subject matter.
