Pacific Symphony wants to take you out for a movie in style. As a beautifully restored version of the greatest movie musical of all time, Singin' in the Rain,
plays on the big screen, the gifted musicians of Pacific Symphony provide the soundtrack by performing the score live on the concert hall stage. Starring Gene Kelly, Donald O'Connor and Debbie Reynolds, Singin' in the Rain
is a lighthearted story set in Hollywood during the transition from silent film to "talkies." Kelly plays a popular silent film star shackled by his studio in a loveless romance to his leading lady (Jean Hagen). On the run from his fans, the star jumps into a passing car where he meets a chorus girl played by Debbie Reynolds, and the stage is set for hilarious hijinks, romance, and amazing singing and dancing, including the iconic performance of the title song. The film will be introduced from the stage by biographer and film historian Patricia Ward Kelly, the widow of Gene Kelly. Stay after the film for a post-concert conversation with Mrs. Kelly and Principal Pops Conductor Richard Kaufman.
