WOW! Bold "in your face" performances. BBAJ is a great theatre piece and this group shows what you can do with little money and a lot of imagination. Too bad it was such a limited run.
Color and Light Theatre Ensemble will present the Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, an audacious mix of historical fact and fiction, which redefines America’s controversial seventh president — the man who invented the Democratic Party, drove the Indians west, and ultimately doubled the size of our nation — with a raucous blend of outrageous comedy, anarchic theatricality and an infectious emo rock score.
This show arrives just in time for election season, overflowing with insightful, comic parallels to our dysfunctional politics today, right from the show’s aggressive opening number, “Populism, Yea Yea!” The show features Alex Syiek (Sondheim on Sondheim at Playhouse Square) as Andrew Jackson, the controversial and strong-willed president on his journey to reform a crippled nation. The production also features Matt Alarcon, Emily Arkuss, Sara Budnik, Stephanie Bull, Steve Greene, Josh Hillinger, Kiré Horton, Jon Lee, Joseph McMahon, Kelsey Schulte, Caleb Mills Stewart, and David Valdes.
