This was my first time at Theatre Three, and we had a great time. I've never been to "theatre-in-the-round" before, and it was definitely a new experience. We were given amazing seats right on the floor, which also happens to be the stage in this theatre! It was fun that some of the cast members actually interacted with us a little during the production.
The show was definitely bizarre, but that was part of it's charm... All the lead characters were great. Specifically the guy who played Pippin, and the lady that was the narrator? Not sure her character had a name. They were both incredible with amazing voices. Can't wait to come back for another event at this location!!
_ Music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz;
book by Roger O. Hirson and Bob Fosse
This landmark musical won the Theatre World award plus five Tony Awards and five Drama Desk Awards for its once-upon-a-time-style telling of Pippin, son of Charlemagne. Its coming-of-age story takes Pippin from being a naïve young prince to his kingship where he struggles to rule a kingdom without warfare. The memorable songs of the show have been recorded by scores of recording artists and its concepts and choreography made a Broadway legend of Bob Fosse.
