This is an adult puppet show using only the head, shoulders and arms of life-size Sesame Street-like human puppets, where all the puppeteers are purposely seen....But don't turn-off your interest! The puppeteers seamlessly merge with the puppets, acting as a single inter-species. Humans become puppets, and puppets become human. It is so effective that within 5 minutes, all your attention is on the puppets and you forget the terrific physical and emotional actors.
Besides this uniquely effective staging, there is a plot, characters, and some of the best (intelligent, hilarious, wrenching) spoken and sung 21st Century dialogue to grace a stage, film, or book. The story about being Human is brutally honest, using simplistically and VERY witty observations to bore into the heart and soul. Puppetry and lyrics that can touch everyone in the audience: college kids on dates, love-thwarted professors, teens who came to watch ancient theater from their own technological social universe.
We laughed, we cried, we felt. It was Tony Award-winning theatre done on a pauper's budget money as professionally and effective as on Broadway.....sensational set and storytelling, with close to perfect structure, pacing, lighting, music, costumes, and acting.
Entertaining, deeply meaningful, truthful, and even spiritual, in that it affected the spirit. There was no Hollywood-ending, but no anti-life ending either. Instead, Life Goes On in the puppet world, as it does in the "real" world. Great work!
