My kids had a great time, just wish they would have explained stuff about the instruments a little bit more.

Great introduction for kids to classical music. My 4 year old LOVES the "instument petting zoo". He goes past everything else to get to the wind section first and try the trumpet, trombone, and french horn...then he waits in line for the...continued

LACO’s family concert series opens the door for kids to enjoy this magical sound world now and for the rest of their lives. This 3-concert series includes an hour kid-friendly pre-concert activities, including LACO’s Instrument Petting Zoo, followed by an hour-long interactive concert of classical music. Children are invited to ask questions to the conductor and musicians following the performances.

This special package includes tickets to all 3 of these concerts at the Alex Theatre:

    Sunday, February 8, 2009 – Family Concert 1: Green Eggs and Ham

    • Kapilow: Dr. Seuss’s Green Eggs and Ham

    Sunday, March 22, 2009 – Family Concert 2: Springtastic Strings

    • Vivaldi: Bassoon Concerto in C major

    • Vivaldi: Violin Concerto in E major, “Spring” (from The Four Seasons)

    Sunday, May 3, 2009 – Family Concert 3: Through the Looking Glass

    • Mozart: Symphony No. 35 in D major, “Haffner”

    Each concert features:

    1 pm – 2 pm: Kids get to bang, pluck, bow and blow on real instruments at the popular Instrument Petting Zoo and enjoy fun-filled pre-concert activities, themed around the music, with Kidspace Children’s Museum and concert partners.

    2 pm: The concert begins. Our short programs are designed to introduce kids to the wonder of classical music. Each concert includes an opportunity for young ones to ask questions of the musicians.
