Chano Domínguez's Flamenco Sketches
Flamenco Sketches pays homage to Miles Davis through Chano Domínguez's interpretations of his classic 1959 album Kind of Blue at L.A.'s historic outdoor Ford Theater. Titled for one of the album's iconic pieces, the concert reimagines each of the album's tracks in a setting that's equal parts jazz and flamenco. Led by Domínguez on piano, the ensemble consists of vocalist Blas Córdoba, dancer and Spanish National Flamenco Contest winner Daniel Navarro, bassist Alexis Cuadrado and Henry Cole on drums and percussion. Domínguez is also set to perform Piano Iberico, a new piece, commissioned by Chamber Music America. For this Ignite @ The Ford performance, in addition to seating in the house, a limited number of on stage seats are available for audiences to experience the seamless integration of these two iconic musical traditions up close.
