Crimes of the Heart: Pulitzer-Winning Tragicomedy of Love and Sisters
Playwright Beth Henley (The Miss Firecracker Contest, Family Week) won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama for this 1978 tragicomedy set in Hazlehurst, Miss. The three Magrath sisters -- Meg, Babe and Lenny -- comprise the play's core, as they reunite at their Old Grandaddy's house after Babe shoots her abusive husband. Themselves raised in a dysfunctional family, the Magrath sisters are no strangers to trouble at home, and each has endured her share of hardship and misery. As they're forced to deal with this latest situation, each sister is forced to face the consequences of the "crimes of the heart" she has committed. John Hindman (The Answer Man) directs.
