Preserving a Legacy: A Tribute to Houston's Blues -- With Legends
Part of the Preserving a Legacy: A Tribute to Houston's Blues project, this special concert will find local blues legends sharing the stage at Jones Hall for the Performing Arts for one night only. The Preserving a Legacy initiative intends to help document, celebrate and honor the unique style of blues that was created in Houston's Third and Fifth Wards from the end of World War II through the mid-1970s. To that end, this special concert will feature Houston blues legends Grady Gaines & The Texas Upsetters, guitarists Milton Hopkins and Texas Johnny Brown, singers Trudy Lynn and Ray Brown, and a grand finale with the Kashmere Reunion Stage Band. It's an evening of local music history -- and music history in the making.
