Holocaust Scholar Discusses 21st Century Antisemitism
With antisemitism on the rise both around the world and at home in the United States, the most common historical comparison is to the 1930s in the leadup to World War II. But in this talk at the San Diego Center for Jewish Culture, Rabbi Michael Berenbaum, a former director of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum, makes his case that today's hatred of the Jews is a unique manifestation of the 21st century's post-modernist crisis. The growing antisemitism on both sides of America's political discourse is the result of a different set of influences than before -- and as a result, the tools to combat it must be different as well. This talk is followed by a book signing.
