The parking is kind of far and if you don't know where it is it is hard to understand. Ask around and plan to get there with enough time!

The weather was chilly night. I wore slacks, collared button down with sweater. Was consistent with other guests.

The concert was fantastic! We also had great seats up close and in the center. It couldn't have been any better. Thank you!

Maya was simply AMAZING!! I've never seen a cellist so filled with life and passion as they played. She wasn't a good cellist - she was a fully involved cellist!! She is a must see!

Beethoven  Beethoven

Beethoven/Paul Griffiths (text)  _The General _(U.S. Premiere)

Edward Elgar  Cello Concerto

Special Guests: Maya Beiser, cellist; Philip Larson, narrator

Alexis Grenier, soprano

Beethoven’s moving Elegy for chorus and string orchestra begins a program that features stunning guest artist Maya Beiser performing Elgar’s heartbreaking Cello Concerto. In The General, author/librettist Paul Griffiths draws a composite score from Beethoven (Egmont, King Stephen, Leonore Prohaska and Opferlied) and adds text to create a dramatic work for orchestra, chorus, and actor that tells the story of the Rwandan tragedy through the eyes of the general leading the U.N. peacekeeping mission.
