The Death of Klinghoffer is an opera pulled straight from the headlines. Loosely based on the 1985 Palestinian Liberation Front hijacking of a cruise ship and subsequent murder of Jewish-American passenger Leon Klinghoffer, the provocative opera has been called "revolutionary" by Newsweek. Composer John Adams (Nixon in China, Doctor Atomic) and writer Alice Goodman delve into the complicated conflict between Palestinians and Jews and aim to shine a light on heroism in ordinary people. The Death of Klinghoffer is sure to spark plenty of conversation with its controversial telling of events. Learn More

Totally awesome experience. Highly recommended for novices. Diemecke delivered the lecture by personifying Debussy (complete with fake french accent). He did a wonderful job, telling audiences the background of the piece and explained step by step how Debussy composed the piece.
I googled La Mer and watched part of it on YouTube before the event. Afte that, I dreaded going to this event, but had to drag myself for the sake of my son (music class assignment). I came out totally satisfied and glad I had to accompany my son to this event. Diemecke's "lecture" helped me enjoy the orchestra's performance as Debussy had meant it to be. Brilliant!
