I attended this event to fulfill a course requirement. Although I'm not a fan of be bop, I appreciated the technical virtuosity of the players.

Description

Settle in for an evening of jazz that’s both smooth and funky as the T.S. Monk Sextet soars and sizzles through a series of explosively rhythmic ensembles. A worthy heir to his legendary father’s legacy, T.S. Monk won the New York Jazz Awards’ “Recording of the Year” and _ Downbeat_’s prestigious Reader’s Poll Award—and Variety calls Monk “a first rate drummer, unquenchably driving, and one for the few who can keep the pulse swinging!”
