Femi Kuti & Positive Force: Afrobeat-Jazz Artist
Nigerian sax player and singer Femi Kuti, takes after his legendary father, afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti, with his fiery instrumentals, politically-charged lyrics and social activism. But he's also stepped out of his dad's shadow as a four-time Grammy nominee with his own band, Positive Force. He's released six discs, including 2013's No Place for My Dream, which includes the single "The World Is Changing," and is known for his popular tunes off the '98 album Shoki Shoki, "Beng, Beng, Beng" and "Sorry Sorry." His most recent album, One People One World was released February of this year. Kuti's collaborated and shared stages with impressive names like Common, Mos Def, Jane's Addiction and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and now he and his band are coming to The El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles for what's sure to be another high-powered performance.
