Much too long, got very rrestless. Much of it is repititious, the Gospel choir is good, Brook Shield's singing is mediocre and the music was sometimes so loud over her voice you could hardly hear her. And many of the words she sand were hard to...continued

I like to think I see most movies that come along...eventually, but somehow "Leap of Faith" starring Steve Martin and Debra Winger slipped by me. So when we got tickets to see the new Alan Menken musical currently playing at the Ahmanson Theater...continued

It was hard to bekieve this was the first performance. The cast is great and Raul Esparza was phenomenal. I would love to see it again after two more weeks of previews as I sure it will be tweaked some before the Grand Opening.

When attending a new musical that is pre-Broadway you know it is a work in progress. LEAP OF FAITH in my opinion is still in the workshop phase. The script is very convoluted and the musical numbers forgettable. Raul Esparza does his best to...continued

I love musicals and see most things that come through town but this was an endurance test. No musical should ever be 3 hours long - especially one where not much happens. I had high hopes for this being composed by Alan Menkin but I can't...continued

Raul Esparza was amazing as was the rest of the cast- with the exception of Brooke Shields. Funny, witty, great songs- very entertaining! The choir singers had amazing voices and it was a pleasure to listen to them as well as watch them act.

Leap of Faith is a great movie, that has a really great meaning and a powerful message. I feel the show lost some of that message. It felt not put together properly. The sound was horrible, consistent missed cues, Brooke Sheilds is a fine actress...continued

I REALLY wanted to like this. First the highlights of the evening were: Raul Esparza, working so hard to make a weak book and mediocre music sound exciting. He is brilliant. I would go see him in some (any) thing else. Ricky's (Leslie Odom) ...continued

The show was just ok for me. Honestly, it didn't feel as long as I had anticipated even if it was about 3 hours long. There is definitely a lot of room for polishing before it supposedly heads to Broadway. For example, I don’t think the dance...continued

Wow, how can so much talent be so wasted? Some of the gospel music, especially the song Leap of Faith, is good, but Brooke and Raul are so miscast. The dancing is absurd and out of place. Most problematic is the book. The Kansan townspeople...continued

Too long, but Raul Esparza is marvelous. His soliquoy at the end rivaled Carousel. Choir was excellent. Enjoyed it but do some trimming

It was great to meet Oscar winner, Alan Menken who was sitting in the audience, studying his work and audience reactions. He and all involved kept telling audience members that this is a work in progress. It is worth seeing Raul Esparza in his...continued

Sadly this is the first play that I have ever walked out on during intermission. It was REALLY bad, the storyline, the singing, the characters! :( I was very disappointed and bored. I have seen local theater that was much, much better than this....continued

Sorry to hear that others did not enjoy the show! We really enjoyed ourselves. The cast received a standing ovation at the end. Raul Esparza gave 110% of himself in this role! Don't know how he'll be able to keep it up for weeks to come. I do...continued

This is a show that's headed to Broadway? Why? The only redeeming feature in the show was the little boy. It will be a "Leap of Faith," if it even gets to Broadway. If it does, then the preacher in the show will need to create another miracle to...continued

It was great to see Brooke Shields even if her singing wasn't spectacular. But the experience was great! There are some touching moments as well.

Sadly Brooke is not a strong singer but she played the role well. Raul seemed a bit out of breath at points but pretty suited for the part, great energy and schmuckery. It gets a little 'goddy' for a while but thankfully goes back to being just...continued

I have been reading all the critics who really didn't seem to enjoy this play. I did! It was a fast 3 hours, Raul and Kendra being great and Brooke certainly did okay. If you want to go to the theatre and have an enjoyable evening do go see...continued

This was a fun evening and good show -- the content was light, the story predictable and most of the acting was good. I consider this a "date play" -- nothing heavy or controversial and you leave smiling. Brooke Shields was probably the weakest...continued

I almost didn't go after reading the many bad reviews. But we did go, (on 9/16), and we're glad we did. Both my wife and I liked it very much... AND it got a standing ovation from the full house.

First of all, it is NOT 4 hours. It is 3...continued
