Pat Kinevane's Underneath Takes a Bleak Look at Beauty
Irish actor and playwright Pat Kinevane earned international acclaim for his solo plays Silent, which explored the mind of a homeless man losing his grip on reality, and Forgotten, which tells the stories of four elderly characters nearing the end of their lives in retirement homes. Now, Kinevane is back with the third play in this trilogy which examines the lives of people at the fringes of society: Underneath, for which Kinevane won the 2017 Stage Raw Award for "Best Solo Performance." A recently deceased woman, now in her tomb, reflects on a life spent trying to live up to society's standard of beauty. Poignant, vivid and blackly comic, Underneath is coming to the Odyssey Theatre in Los Angeles.
