Tuesdays With Morrie: Inspiring Drama Based on the Bestselling Novel
Based on journalist Mitch Albom's real-life friendship with his former college professor, Tuesdays With Morrie chronicles the lessons Albom learns more than a decade after college during visits while his mentor and friend is dying from Lou Gehrig's Disease, or ALS. The two delve into the themes of life, love, wealth, aging, dependence, peace and death. It's through these weekly visits that Albom realizes just how much he still has to learn about values and priorities. Albom's 1997 book by the same name has sold more than 14 million copies worldwide to date, was adapted into a successful film in 1999, and premiered as an off-Broadway play, written by Albom himself, in 2001. ALS is near and dear to many in the local community theater community as Joel Markowitz, co-founder of DC Metro Theatre Arts, succumbed to the devastating disease late last year. Prince William Little Theatre and Director Harry Kantrovich are dedicating this production to Joel. Literature and resources about ALS will be available at each performance. Enjoy the tender Tuesdays With Morrie at the Hylton Performing Arts Center in Manassas.
