Mount Vernon Walking Tour: Explore George Washington's Historic Home
Capitol Photo History Tours is offering a tour of George Washington's historic home just once this season, when the heat lessens and crowds thin but the beautiful gardens and orchards remain in bloom. Throughout this two-hour walking tour, you'll explore the grounds of the first U.S. president's home and see Washington's bed chamber, dining hall and personal office, plus many artifacts like the key to the Bastille prison in France given to Washington by the Marquis de Lafayette. You'll also visit the tomb that houses George and Martha Washington, along with many buildings on the property and the Potomac River below. It promises to be an informative, educational stroll that'll give you a new outlook on historical territory. Please note that the cost of Mount Vernon admission is separate, and photography is not allowed inside the mansion.
