Acclaimed Off-Broadway Comedy: Bright Colors and Bold Patterns
The margaritas have been flowing at the Soho Playhouse bar lately, thanks to the off-Broadway comedy that's slurped up critics' picks from both The New York Times and Time Out. Written by comic and YouTube sensation Drew Droege (The Chloe Videos, Die Mommie Die!), this raucous one-man show trains its sharp-witted eye on the disenchanted friend of an about-to-be-married gay couple, whose request to steer away from wearing Bright Colors and Bold Patterns at their Palm Springs nuptials leaves him all hot and bothered, and with plenty to say about the state of stereotypes and relationships as he relaxes and imbibes in a pre-wedding pool sesh. Now starring for director Michael Urie (Torch Song, Buyer & Cellar, Ugly Betty) is the UCB-trained Jeff Hiller, who's appeared in a bunch of buzzy TV comedies, including Nightcap, The Real Hotwives and Difficult People.
