Jazz at Lincoln Center presents the music of Chick Corea, as performed by some of the legendary pianist and composer's best friends, proteges, and current and former collaborators. Corea's music is famously wide-ranging, spanning the full spectrum of acoustic and electric genres, and created in collaboration with a dizzying array of the world's best players. Tonight's concert can't cover all Corea's accomplishments, but a top-notch ensemble may get surprisingly close. The program includes two of Corea's piano proteges: Israeli piano prodigy Gadi Lehavi and Georgian-born pianist Beka Gochiashvili, the youngest winner of the Montreux Jazz Competition. They're joined by Grammy-winning bassist John Patitucci, trumpeter and Miles Davis student Wallace Roney, and Marcus Gilmore -- one of New York's best drummers and a current Corea bandmate.
