Even though the plot was ridiculous the fabulous Coney Island scenery saved the show. The singers and circus performers were good but the it went on far too long and dragged in parts. I especially enjoyed Kelli O,Hara.

One of the best operas I have seen at the Met. Singing was effortless from good singers, who also knew how to act. Loved the creativity of the set, costumes, direction. Had a terrific night!

The music is great and the scenes were done well and the singers were good. The seats are quite uncomfortable. Like most operas, it is a silly story, and way too long. A good editor could cut the program in half.

It was a wonderful production of a piece that is uncomfortably misogynistic in today's world...and the opera has long patches of lovely singing when nothing is happening. Luckily the director has put the piece in 1950s Coney Island and added life...continued
