Gary Schall's remarkable career as a experimental composer was no doubt inspired by his time as part of the Grammy-winning ensemble of acclaimed minimalist Steve Reich, which he joined at the tender age of 19. As part of this concert at Hunter College's Lang Hall, the pupil salutes the master with a pair of Reich works -- one offered as a bongo solo and the other as a marimba and multimedia piece. He'll also be joined by vocalists Sam Schall and Mariana Weisler to perform several of his own compositions, including Fourwood (based on Steve Reich themes for piano and two singers) and Landings (for Marimba, Piano and Voice.)
