St. Luke's Chamber Ensemble at the Streicker Center
It's not just any orchestra that can take on New York's landmark Temple Emanu-El, a towering behemoth on Fifth Avenue that's among the world's most awe-inspiring houses of worship. Luckily, the Orchestra of St. Luke's isn't just any old orchestra. As one of the country's most distinguished classical music ensembles, the Orchestra of St. Luke's has performed at Carnegie Hall, commissioned more than 50 new works and won four Grammys along the way. Now the 21 members of the St. Luke's Chamber Ensemble, the OSL's artistic core, are returning to Temple Emanu-El's Streicker Center to perform (for free) a Mozart divertimento, a Mendelssohn violin concerto written when the composer was just 13 and Tchaikovsky's beloved Serenade for Strings, considered one of his greatest works.
