The boat was a whale-watching boat, with uncushioned seats outside around the cabin and a few booths inside. No place on bow or stern to sit. Chips and salsa were to be served free, with a cash meal and alcohol bar. Nothing was served, but beer (only) could be purchased at the teeny bar inside, and snacks were limited to a couple of different candy options and chips, canned sodas and coffee. Very disappointing!
It was overcast and cold, with a strong wind blowing when the boat went out past the breakfront and anchored around Corona Del Mar. Numerous complaints from passengers made the crew turn around and return to the harbor, but the boat didn't go back out when the fireworks started (over 2 hours after the cruise began) because we were told they were only authorized to go out that far once. Of course we were not told that originally, nor given a say in whether the boat went out or stayed in the harbor until the fireworks show.
We did enjoy the cruise once back inside harbor (we should have stayed there until dark, then gone out of the harbor) but were too far from Laguna Beach's fireworks to see them well, and the Newport Beach fireworks were disappointing. We were also able to see the Queen Mary fireworks from a great distance, but other passengers told us that last year, anchored out nearer Laguna Beach, the fireworks were almost overhead and spectacular! Not this year!!! I won't use this cruise line again.
