It's a nice cruise around the harbor. You get to see the sunset, but since it is still kind of bright outside you don't really get to see many of the lights. Still a nice sunset cruise if you like to be on the water.

Departing each night of the Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade Of Lights, Newport Landing’s pre-parade cruise is a great way to view all ships in full decor as they prepare for the parade, as well as many of the estates competing in the Ring of Lights competition. Pre-Parade Holiday Cruises depart at 4:15pm returning at 5:15pm. And with the parade passing by just after 6:00pm each night this allows for viewing the Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade of Lights from shore shortly after returning.
