Acclaimed violinist Leila Josefowicz and choreographer Jessica Lang and her dance company join the National Symphony Orchestra to perform Pulitzer winner John Adams' Violin Concerto in the final program of the NEW MOVES: symphony + dance festival. Called "a master of visual composition" by Dance Magazine, Lang sets original choreography to Adams' melodic and colorful 1993 work. Josefowicz's playing has been described as being full of "zest and fiery personality" (Chicago Sun-Times) -- a perfect match for this expressive, breathless work. Also on the program are Aaron Copland's Pulitzer-winning masterpiece of pioneer life, Appalachian Spring; Michael Daugherty's Superman-inspired Red Cape Tango; and Sinfonia No. 4 ("Strands") by George Walker, the first African-American composer to win the Pulitzer. This comment is really for the venue itself. Perhaps Drury Lane needs to remind their guests about proper theatre etiquette. I know that Goldstar members are well aware of the proper protocol! :-) A handful of people arrived late, talked, and crackled wrappers during the performance. This is the third show I have seen at DL where the patrons seemed to think they were watching from their living rooms.info • May 27 2013 star this tip starred

Wonderful production! My only angst would be the seats we were assigned. Since I was a red Velvet member, I was hoping I would be getting good seats this time. I even bought the tickets weeks ahead of time. Unfortunately, the seats assigned were worse than the seats I was getting when I wasn't paying the velvet price. It was in the far corner by the light crew control box.
