Two music icons are coming to town for a historic collaboration. Brian Wilson, co-founder of the Beach Boys, and Jeff Beck of the Yardbirds are heading out on a North American tour together, and the Paramount Theatre in Oakland is one of their stops. Brian Wilson is one of pop music's most revered figures. He led the Beach Boys when he was barely out of his teen years, writing hit songs like "Fun, Fun, Fun," "Help Me, Rhonda" and "California Girls" along with dozens of other Top 40 hits. After the Beach Boys, he went on to a solo career in which he influenced generations of musicians who came after him with his blend of catchy, pop-friendly melodies and experimental vibes. His co-headliner Jeff Beck is one of the most influential lead guitarists in rock music, ranked among the top five in Rolling Stone
's "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time." He has the rare honor of being included in the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame twice -- once as a member of the Yardbirds and once as a solo artist.
