American Ballet Theatre, regarded as one of the world's finest dance companies, brings an evening of mixed repertory to the Kennedy Center. Michel Fokine's Les Sylphides is a romantic reverie with music by Chopin orchestrated by Britten. Tchaikovsky powers the D.C. premiere of ABT principal dancer Marcelo Gomes' Aftereffect. Based on A Midsummer Night's Dream, Sir Frederick Ashton's The Dream marks 450 years since Shakespeare's birth. For over 70 years, American Ballet Theatre has wowed audiences everywhere with their passion, innovation and athleticism. The New York Times called them "American ballet at its peak," and it's easy to see why. Learn More

The perfomance was great! however the venue was nice but it was not easy to see, if you sat infront of a tall person it was not easy to see. I took my kid who is 5'1" it was had for her to see, she had to put things on her seat to make her taller but then bloced the person behind her.
Student dancers from Washington area ballet schools perform with Easton Smith and Haley Henderson Smith of Ballet West (straight from their Nutcracker performances at the Kennedy Center), Puanani Brown of American Ballet Theatre, Sam Chester of Carolina Ballet Theatre and other professional guest dancers in this wonderful holiday tradition for all ages. OBT Artistic Director Patricia Berrend was a member of the internationally known Hamburg Ballet and a founding member of the Washington Ballet. As Associate Director of the Washington School of Ballet, Ms. Berrend served for 20 years as Répétiteur for Mary Day's popular The Nutcracker.
