It's alive! Palo Alto Players presents Young Frankenstein, Mel Brooks' Broadway hit based on his classic 1974 movie. Brooks reunited with the creative team behind The Producers for a comedic re-imagining of the Frankenstein story. Follow young Dr. Frankenstein (pronounced "Fronkensteen") as he tries to complete his grandfather's work and bring a corpse back to life. He's aided by the hunchbacked, bulging-eyed Igor, his beautiful lab assistant, Inga and an eccentric housekeeper, Frau Blucher. Featuring larger-than-life characters and hilariously catchy tunes like "Transylvania Mania," "He Vas My Boyfriend" and "Puttin' on the Ritz," Young Frankenstein is guaranteed to produce monstrous laughs. I really enjoyed the music. The singing by the females was great: I could understand the words and follow the song; however, some of the male singers did not enunciate too well and it was difficult to understand what the song was about. I found that somewhat distracting. The set design was fine and the cast members were talented.
