Big River, the Mark Twain-Based Musical, Celebrates Pure Americana
Join Huck Finn, the slave Jim, Pap Finn and a host of colorful characters on a hijinks-filled journey down the Mississippi River as the irrepressible Huck helps his friend Jim escape to freedom at the mouth of the Ohio River. Based on the classic novel by Mark Twain, Big River features a catchy score by Roger Miller that draws from an eclectic collection of musical styles including Cajun, gospel, blues and country. Miller's score, a brilliant celebration of pure Americana, helped the Broadway production of Big River win seven Tony Awards in 1985, including Best Musical.
