It's the kinda thing you might write a hit country song about -- a trio of buds decide to form a band, start playing honky-tonks out of the evocatively-named town of Dripping Springs, Texas, and their very first song out of the gate hits No. 1 and scores them a pair of 2018 Grammy nominations. The neo-traditionalist country trio known as Midland definitely made some noise with their gold-certified tune "Drinkin' Problem" and their debut album On the Rocks
, which led to appearances on The Tonight Show
and touring as openers for superstars like Kenny Chesney, Little Big Town, Thomas Rhett and Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. Midland, which describes its sound as "if George Strait and the Eagles just went and had a really wild debaucherous weekend," play a show in the round at the Celebrity Theatre in Phoenix.
