Cardboard: Lives of Seattle Panhandlers Explored in Documentary
COMP - $4.50*
Sometimes funny, sometimes sad, most times simply desperate, the homemade signs held by panhandlers only tell part of the story. Now, Cardboard, Matt Longmire's acclaimed documentary, reveals the lives of Seattle's homeless with rare insight and honesty. Living on the $10 to $60 a day they raise begging on the sidewalks of the Emerald City, many homeless struggle with drug abuse and mental health issues. Mayor Mike McGinn, who made the highly controversial decision to veto Seattle's ban on panhandling, offers political context balanced with countless other outlooks from citizens around the city. Director Longmire (The River) will introduce the film at Whitsell Auditorium.
