The life of legendary Native American jazz saxophonist, composer, and singer Jim Pepper comes to the stage in this new musical, which charts his ground-breaking career as a solo artist and band leader. Cochise Anderson stars as Pepper, the jazz fusion pioneer who turned an ancient peyote chant he learned from his grandfather into the 1969 single "Witchi Tai To," the only hit in the history of the Billboard pop charts to feature an authentic Native American chant. He went on to record what's considered the first disc of "American Indian jazz," the acclaimed Comin' and Goin', in 1983. Learn More

Performance quality exceeded my expectations -- incredible voices and acting! As I was unfamiliar with the story in advance, I would have appreciated a few paragraphs in the program about the show. The writeups on the performers was detailed and informative. Quaint, small venue I had not visited previously. We'll see more shows there.
