Loudon Wainwright III: Grammy-Winning Singer-Songwriter
Few singer-songwriters are as brilliant, as eccentric and as universally beloved as Loudon Wainwright III, a cult fave who's been crafting lyrically-driven, often hilarious folk-rock for over four decades. A Grammy winner in 2010 for his album High Wide & Handsome, and maybe best known for his 1973 novelty hit "Dead Skunk," Wainwright's witty, self-deprecating tunes have attracted covers by artists like Johnny Cash, Earl Scruggs and his own son, Rufus Wainwright, to name just a few. And if Wainwright kinda looks familiar to you, it's because you might've also caught a glimpse of him in Judd Apatow projects like Knocked Up and Undeclared, or shows like Parks and Recreation. For this performance at Alberta Rose Theatre, he'll be joined by folk singer Caroline Cotter, who opens the show.
