This concert features the rare and beautiful harp-guitar, played by one of the world's foremost fingerstyle guitarists and her Oregonian counterpart. Muriel Anderson is the first woman to win the National Fingerstyle Guitar Championship, has recorded over a dozen albums and has performed throughout the United States, Europe and Asia. Her unique approach to her instrument allows her to blend folk, classical, jazz and bluegrass genres as she creates new sounds and music. John Doan's signature instrument is the 20-string harp-guitar, originally popular at the end of the 19th century with six standard fretted guitar strings, six unfretted bass strings and eight unfretted high strings. Doan has played with many folk and country legends, including Burl Ives, Larry Carlton and Chet Atkins.
