Oregon Ballet Theatre Program Celebrates the Work of Balanchine
$33 - $45*
$67 - $96
Oregon Ballet Theatre marks the 30th anniversary of George Balanchine's death with this celebratory program showcasing three unique examples of the legendary choreographer's enduring work. The evening begins with Stravinsky Violin Concerto, built around two group sections framing a pair of contrasting pas de deux. Next is Prodigal Son, a 1929 collaboration with modernist painter Georges Roualt and composer Sergei Prokofiev, which is one of Balanchine's most adventurous works, pulling pathos and passion out of the biblical parable. Rounding out the celebration at the Portland Center for the Performing Arts is the return of audience favorite Square Dance.
