Singer Maria de Barros' Afro-Latin Music Live at Ordway Center
Famous for her upbeat, up-tempo, salsa-inspired Afro-Latin music, singer Maria de Barros' concerts are beautiful and joyful tributes to her island homeland of Cape Verde. In fact, de Barros delivers such stirring performances that the front rows of the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts' Music Theater will be removed for this special show so that members of the audience who feel like dancing (and trust us, you will) can do so. And really -- what better way is there to chase away those winter blues? Local Minneapolis group Havana Hi-Fi will play an opening set of Latin-inspired tunes, and de Barros will be introduced by special guest Naomi Tutu -- daughter of South African social rights activist Desmond Tutu.

The weather was Hot and humid. I wore a floor length sundress -- casual but something I prefer wearing when attending an event at the Ordway -- there were women there in capris and bermuda shorts (as were some of the men) I don't like dressing down to go to the theatre even if the weather is as unbearable as it was..star this tip starred
